Before there was written language there was drawing. Art began as a way of communicating. It was a way to pass on stories, myths and legends, a way to leave messages for the next passerby, to keep notes of important events. I like to think that with these images I can communicate to you a story, an idea, a feeling, a message.
We cannot know our inner world directly. We "know" through symbolic images that stand for something larger than and yet a part of ourselves. An expressive life is experienced by the symbolic life made conscious. Maybe we cannot escape the predicament of our time, but we can suggest other worlds bounded by hope and illuminated with images of peace and optimism.
